Who can you romance in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

The release version has three confirmed romance routes:

• Anca, the Laslea herbalist and witch introduced in the prologue
• Crake, also called Marat, the mortal leader of the Manumit rebels
• Lacra, a vrakhiri who opposes Brencis for reasons of her own

Anca is the longest and most relationship-focused route. Crake and Lacra have shorter arcs, but both lead to a complete romance scene and can affect who appears during the epilogue. Coen is not forced to choose only one partner, so a completionist can advance all three routes if the campaign time budget allows it.

In the finale, eating the Mandrake grants Mandrake Ward. Drinking Lacra's blood in the romance scene grants Mesmerize. These are separate rewards; check the dialogue and reward details before the choice.

How much campaign time does romance use?

Romance is part of the same 30-day narrative budget as quests, training, and other commitments. Free roaming does not drain the calendar, but selected relationship scenes show an hourglass and spend one or more time segments.

The safest approach is to discover several objectives first, then compare their visible costs. Anca's early Page-Turner scene is optional and uses time; later tea, ritual, and quest steps may also add costs. Crake and Lacra require longer faction or character quest chains, so their true cost includes the route needed to unlock each stage.

What choices actually matter?

The release routes reward three habits: finish the character's personal quests, use optional white dialogue to reveal additional choices, and select openly affectionate responses when the game offers them. A single neutral line usually does not destroy a route, but explicit “friends only” responses can close a romance scene.

Anca also has a dangerous practical fail state: approaching her at night as a badly wounded vampire can turn a conversation into forced feeding. Save first, restore Coen's health, or return during the day before speaking to her.

For epilogues, quest completion matters more than exclusivity. PC Gamer reports Crake's appearance on the Manumit ending path, while Lacra can appear after completing her personal quests up to the Midnight Reckoning finale. Can you romance all three characters?

Yes. Launch-build guides from multiple outlets agree that Coen is not restricted to one partner. The limiting factor is the campaign time needed to finish all three questlines.

Is there a male romance option?

Yes. Crake, whose real name is Marat, is a male romance option for Coen.

Is Anca the canon romance?

The game does not label a single route “canon.” Anca has the longest relationship arc and the most consistent epilogue presence, so her route receives more narrative emphasis than the shorter Crake and Lacra encounters.

Is Ambrus romanceable?

No launch-build route for Ambrus has been documented. The three confirmed options are Anca, Crake, and Lacra.

Do romances change the ending?

They can change character outcomes and epilogue appearances. They do not replace the central choice about how Coen resolves the campaign.

Can a romance fail?

Yes. Character death, choosing a friendship-only response, skipping a required personal quest, or letting a time-sensitive opportunity expire can block a scene. Keep a manual save before the final quest in each chain.

What still needs verification?

We have not measured the total time cost of each complete romance chain or reproduced every ending on every platform and patch. Check the in-game time prompt for your save. Epilogue observations are attributed to the walkthrough authors rather than guaranteed for every branch.
