How to Romance Anca in The Blood of Dawnwalker

Use this route checklist. The prologue scene is an early opportunity; the later quest chain begins with Echoes of Silenced Bells.

Complete the later personal quests and use affectionate responses when offered. Polygon's romance guide says missing the early Page-Turner moment should not prevent the later route. Do not restart the campaign solely because you missed that scene; a required hidden flirt score has not been established by these walkthroughs.

Withering Away and Page-Turner

Meet Anca by the river outside Laslea while collecting medicine for Esme, then accept her invitation to study Latin. Paying full price is not required to receive the medicine: Polygon's Withering Away walkthrough reports that Anca also lets you pay later. The optional Page-Turner scene consumes campaign time, so plan the rest of the prologue before accepting it.

The red-covered book leads to more flirtatious dialogue; it is not established as a required romance unlock. The warm response after the scene is the one that emphasizes enjoying her company rather than only the lesson.

Page-Turner is the clearest early signal, but the route is built around the whole questline. If you skip a flirt, continue supporting Anca rather than assuming the romance is already lost.

Page-Turner: start the lesson and find the missing herbs

1. Start the quest: when Anca invites Coen to stay during Withering Away, choose “Gladly — I've missed it too.”
2. Collect the herbs: after the storm interrupts the lesson, enter the shed beside her house. Collect 11 bundles from the hanging racks; three are behind the door, an easy place to miss.
3. Before leaving: finish checking the racks even when Anca calls out, then return to help her. If you already left early, the cited walkthroughs do not establish that this alone permanently ends her romance.

The trigger and locations come from PowerPyx's Page-Turner walkthrough; Polygon's walkthrough also reports 11 bundles and distinguishes immediate reactions from unverified lasting consequences.

Making medicine instead? Esme's recipe is a separate Withering Away objective. Follow the medicine instructions, rather than treating the shed's bundle count as a recipe quantity.

Echoes, Between the Words, and Old Devils

During Echoes of Silenced Bells, let Anca explain her past and help with the convent investigation. The final notes decision does not appear to be a hard romance lock, though giving her the materials needed for the ritual produces the most supportive version of the scene.

In Between the Words, make the warm drink when offered and tell Anca it is your pleasure. Continue the conversation until Coen can ask whether her feelings are more than faith. Optional white dialogue is important here because it can reveal the stronger yellow response.

Where to make Anca's warm drink

Look for the pot and herbs on the south side of the Crossroads Inn. Preparing the drink is an optional objective costing one time segment. If you postponed studying after Echoes of Silenced Bells, travel to the inn yourself and speak with Anca about the recovered books.

To continue the book objective, inspect the lower-left book on the table, then bring the apparently blank volume, Sancti Mihai Historia Vera, to Anca. These locations and the optional drink cost are documented in PowerPyx's Between the Words walkthrough.

Continue to Where Old Devils Lie

During Where Old Devils Lie, thank her for helping, question whether she sees Coen as only a friend, and choose the caring responses at the mountain pool. “I care about you” is the clearest confession before the final quest. Additional playful dialogue around the map and ruins reinforces the route but is less important than completing the quest.

Stronger Than Achilles final choices

When the blood-sacrifice obstacle injures someone, taking the risk yourself allows Coen to say that he would rather be hurt than Anca. When she reveals her interest in the Font, choose the responses that show understanding, then say that you would do anything for her and that you love her.

Font of Life: choose the reward you actually want

The three Font choices have different consequences:

• Coen uses it: unlocks Font of Life, a Witchcraft perk providing daytime health regeneration.
• Anca uses it: changes her later character outcome; this branch does not award Coen the perk or the trousers.
• Destroy it: awards the Ancient Greaves, legendary heavy trousers.

These rewards are listed in PowerPyx's Stronger Than Achilles walkthrough. PC Gamer's route report says the romance can complete after any Font choice, while giving it to Anca leads to her happiest personal outcome. Choose for the reward or story outcome; the Font choice and the later romance response are separate decisions.

Do not stop at the Font. Speak with Anca to leave the ruins, then finish the conversation back at the inn. PowerPyx documents “I meant what I said.” followed by “Screw decency. I want you, too.” for the romance. Confirm the confession and reciprocate her interest rather than choosing friendship.

How the Anca romance can fail

• Anca dies: do not approach her at night while Coen is a badly wounded, starving vampire. Restore health, carry blood, or return during the day.
• Friends only: the final conversation contains an explicit platonic branch. Do not select it if you want the romance scene.
• Missed quest stage: advance her personal chain before spending the campaign calendar elsewhere.
• No optional dialogue: white questions can unlock the more direct yellow romance choices, so do not rush every conversation.

Finished the Font but saw no romance scene? The scene belongs to the later inn conversation. Check whether you have completed that conversation before assuming the Font choice broke the route. If you already chose the friendship response, we have no verified way to replay it without an earlier save.

Anca romance FAQ

Is Anca the longest romance?

Her route has an optional prologue scene followed by four main personal quests. PC Gamer describes her relationship as receiving more epilogue attention than the other two; that does not establish one fixed completion time for every playthrough.

Do you have to let Anca use the Font?

No. The romance can complete after any Font outcome, but giving it to Anca produces her most positive character result.

Can you romance Anca and someone else?

Yes. Dawnwalker does not make the three romance routes mutually exclusive.

Does the Page-Turner scene cost time?

Yes. Staying with Anca adds a time cost during the already crowded prologue. Follow the prologue quest order if you want the scene without losing the most urgent village outcomes.

I missed Page-Turner. Should I restart?

Not solely for that reason. Polygon reports that missing the early scene should not block the later romance. Continue with Echoes of Silenced Bells and keep a save before the final inn conversation.
